RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Under minimal direction, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, replacement, installation, and commissioning of highly complex systems (including detailed troubleshooting). Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on site, customer interface. Provides consultant level services for the customer related to building automation systems and ensures ultimate customer satisfaction levels with assigned customers. Provides building re-commissioning, energy related and or network technology recommendations for customers. With a high level of complete technical competence, mentors lower level Controls Technicians, Service Technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes all required project and service documentation.



PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
1. Supports all customers through thorough understanding of equipment, systems and business risk mitigation at mission critical facilities. Proactively responds to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruptions of customer's business.
2. Diagnoses and repairs complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems and ability to test and write modifications in multiple languages of systems software.
3. Provides solutions to very complex control system problems by either troubleshooting the system, or advising others on how to resolve problems. Requires thorough understanding of systems software and ability to write or recommend modifications to programs as needed.
4. With administrative support from the Projects Team, may manage all aspects of small / non-complex retrofit projects as required.
5. Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities as required in an ethical and professional manner.
6. Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all controls technicians in the branch. Provides safety awareness and instruction to subcontractors on Johnson Controls work sites.
7. Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals.
8. Provides energy related recommendations for customers. Consults with the customer as a result of data gathered and site assessments. Provides field proposals on retrofits, upgrades, replacements, or enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations or sales leads.
9. Provides building re-commissioning and or network technology services for customer’s building automation systems. Provides technical recommendations for sales professionals.
10. Participates on selected teams as directed, and provides solutions for highly technical issues.
11. Provides field proposals on retrofits, replacements, upgrades and or enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations or sales leads.
12. Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Ensures high levels of customer satisfaction. Meets regularly with customer to become familiar with operating problems. Keeps customer informed on the nature of service provided, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, and or replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work.
13. Serves as an internal resource on technical issues, and viewed as an expert in given fields by both employees and customers.
14. Provides mentorship and serves as one of the final approvers of the certification for Controls Technicians as well as Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical equipment
15. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations to produce job layouts and assist with bid proposals. Must be able to fully utilize Johnson Controls service, project management and estimating tools.
16. Trains the customer in control systems operations. Delivers manuals and documentation to the customer for training needs as required.
17. Compiles all job documentation, such as certificate of completion, customer training form, training certificates and punch lists.
18. Conducts on-going intense self study (reading, research, practice) to maintain the highest technical proficiency in the company's product lines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Other duties related to the commissioning and servicing of building controls and facilities management systems and energy management systems as assigned.









REQUIREMENTS:
Vocational School four year program or an Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field or equivalent. Certified Energy Management Certificate required. Minimum of ten years directly related work experience. Able to act independently and to coordinate the work of other employees and contractors on a customer site. Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts. Able to explain technical information to non-technical people. Achieved the highest level of certification on at least two different product lines produced by Johnson Controls two third party controls and integration. Associate or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Internet Technology desired.
