Job Description:
WGPS seeks a Production Editor to manage and schedule theproduction of a portfolio of products to agreed quality, timeliness,and cost-efficient standards. Successful candidates will haveexperience in editing and formatting educational professionaldevelopment materials, have an understanding of the K–12 schoolenvironment, and have a strong commitment to educational improvement.Finally, successful candidates will thrive on the excitement of workingwith a small, mission-driven education company that strives to make areal difference in K–12 education.
This is a full-time salaried, non-exempt (over-time eligible) position with benefits.
Responsibilities of Copy Editor:
Edit copy for style, usage, clarity, and grammar, ensuring content is concise, correct, and easy to comprehend (75%)
Lay out and design professional developmentmaterials, including but not limited to training presentations andteacher resources(25%)
Ensure high-quality editorial standards are met and achieved in a timely manner
Correct formatting and design flaws
Communicate with Professional Development Designers (including consultants) andManaging Editor throughout the Editorial phase to report issues andoffer solutions
Create print-ready files for each project; confirm print specifications match project needs
Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements of Copy Editor:
Four-year degree in English or related field
Demonstrated copyediting skills and knowledge of proofreading marks (test is administered)
Intermediate Adobe Photoshop and InDesign experience preferred
