Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Direct Reports: Accounts Payable, other accounting personnel as hired by the company
Other Key Relationships: Executive Management, Outside Auditors
This individual will be responsible for handling the Corporate Controller responsibilities for Champions Biotechnology (www.championsbiotechnology.com), and will be a key partner to the CFO and other executives in transforming and upgrading the finance function of the company.
The Corporate Controller will be responsible for all accounting, controls and financial and regulatory reporting on a global basis, as the company expands internationally. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP accounting and reporting standards. The successful candidate will also manage the development and maintenance of planning and budgeting systems, provide analysis and interpretation of trends requiring management’s attention and present the findings and specific recommendations to senior management. The Controller will play a significant role in helping the company achieve its operating objectives by providing accurate and timely financial data and compliance with all regulatory requirements as well as identifying ways to operate more efficiently.
· The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years experience in financial positions of increasing scope. Preferably, an individual with a mix of public accounting and experience in financial reporting at a publicly traded company.
· In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements; strong analytical and accounting expertise. Current with all regulatory reporting requirements and able to provide effective oversight to ensure compliance.
· The candidate should be capable of building an accounting department that remains technically strong and accurate in the areas of accounting and controls, but which becomes more streamlined and analytical in its financial reporting.
· Related industry experience is a definite plus.
· Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley is required.
· Experience with Great Plains or similar accounting package is required
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Certified Public Accountant is required
· “Big 4” public accounting experience is a plus.
· International experience is a plus.
