Job Purpose: The Controller is responsible for all accounting operations of the Company by planning, directing, and coordinating all Accounting Department functions to deliver accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with company policies and accounting regulations. The Controller oversees the accounting practices, including budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions and assists the Executive Team in developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives of the organization. The Controller and other members of the accounting staff are expected to have strategic roles, not just record-keeping and reporting duties.
Corporate Financial Statement preparation, including analysis, financial notes, and graphs.
Medicare / Medicaid Cost Report preparation.
Cash / Treasury Management
Oversee and manage payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other accounting functions.
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
Cash Management - maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances; making investments.
Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Prepares special, and ad hoc, reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Maintains accounting staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Manages results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting REQUIRED
Master's Degree preferred, but not required.
MBA or CPA preferred, but not required.
At least 7 years relevant accounting experience REQUIRED, including at least 4 years supervisory/management experience.
Controller experience preferred.
Medicare / Medicaid Billing Experience REQUIRED
In-depth knowledge of automated / electronic accounting systems (Quickbooks, Dynamics, etc.)
Mastery of Microsoft Office tools - Excel, Word, Outlook
