CORPORATE CONTROLLER (PUBLISHING) Would Strongly prefer Media or Publishing Experience My Client is seeking a Controller to support the growing Finance and Accounting department. Great leadership skills, excellent organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and a great sense of flexibility are required. Manage the Accounting department Supervise staff of 12 between Corporate Accounting (including payroll, A/R, and A/P) and Financial Planning & Analysis teams Develop and maintain relationships with key management personnel across all five business unit Maintain Solomon accounting system, Forecaster budgeting and forecasting tool, and all other financial systems Manage cash flow across multiple entities and ensure cash flow optimization Maintain operational and financial policy, procedures and controls Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations Manage monthly general ledger close process Manage preparation and distribution of financial statements and operational reports for the entire family of 12 divisions Manage the annual budgeting process, interim forecasting and budget v. actual analysis Prepare various tax filings (e.g., Canadian GST, sales tax) and assist with preparation of quarterly and annual federal and state filings Coordinate audit of 401(k) plan Support Chairman, Business Unit Presidents and CFO on miscellaneous projects and analysis Participate in vendor selection and contract management
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Certified Public Accountant with in depth knowledge of GAAP 7+ years of experience with at least 5 years at a Big 4 firm preferred Strong work ethic, flexibility to work under tight deadlines and strong sense of urgency oriented toward achieving monthly goals Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, superior organizational and prioritization skills and extreme attention to detail Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
