Corporate Director of Laboratory Informatics

MedStar Health, non-profit, community-based healthcare organization serving the Baltimore/Washington region, has an immediate opportunity for a detail-oriented, experienced Corporate Director of Laboratory Informatics.

 

Job Description:

Manages anatomic and clinical pathology -related projects system-wide in an effort to enhance quality of care and contain costs. Responsible for coordination with clinical informatics for full integration of all laboratory information systems. Responsible for the CAP guidelines and other regulatory requirements as they relate to LIS. Establishes and maintains relationships between system-wide laboratory entities and hospital-based operations to ensure clinical appropriateness of laboratory services.

 

Education: 

·         MS in Business or Informatics preferred or  Bachelor of Science degree

 

Experience:

·         5 years of laboratory information systems project planning experience and 5 years of LIS management experience.

 

Cert./Reg./License:    

·         MT(ASCP)

 

Skills:    

·         Excellent interpersonal, analytical, writing, and presentation skills a must. 

·         Must also possess basic managerial finance skills and have the ability to perform financial (cost/benefit) analyses.  Basic understanding of hospital operations, and the ability to apply this knowledge in analyzing operations is essential.

 

Physical Requirements: 

·         Visual acuity; manual dexterity and physical mobility; hear and orally communicate. 

·         Routine driving between all MedStar sites as well as to potential external clients in surrounding DC/Balto area via own vehicle is required.
