Spartech Corporation is seeking a Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety Manager at the Corporate office in Clayton, MO.
Primary responsibilities will include:
· Assist locations with EHS compliance by providing technical and regulatory expertise in addition to implementing EHS continuous improvement processes.
· Train facility EHS Coordinators and safety committee members in behavior-based safety prevention programs and assist with ongoing program improvements.
· Work with facility staff to develop and implement tools and procedures that maintain ongoing compliance. Complete agency permitting/reporting as required.
· Implement and/or maintain Spartech’s Health & Safety Management System and Integrated Management System for ISO 14001 certification.
· Organize and conduct monthly health and safety conference calls with all plant safety representatives and Plant Managers.
· Conduct periodic plant visits and EHS audits to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, ISO 14001 standards, and internal procedures.
· Develop and maintain management systems to identify applicable EHS requirements and document ongoing compliance with regulations or standards.
· Maintain EHS databases and generate periodic compliance and/or performance reports for agency reporting and internal monitoring of key EHS performance indicators.
· Review and advise on plans for new facilities, existing facility modifications and other facility changes that could impact permits, licenses and authorizations, as well as critical safety programs.
· Assist the facilities in special training needs and implement standard required training
· Ensure each facility has adequate local EHS staff resources and advise management where changes need to be made
· Understand and stay current with national and state regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another area related to the EHS field.
· 7 -10 years manufacturing or chemical industry experience in EHS required
· Professional registration and/or certification in EHS field a plus such as CSP, CIH, CHMM
· Previous experience as a multi facility compliance manager a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Candidate must possess a working knowledge of major EHS regulatory requirements and ability to understand physical and chemical processes related to facility operations.
· Ability to effectively apply knowledge to appropriate, workable solutions congruent with regulations and standards, and Company objectives
· Ability to write and speak fluently in English
· Ability to travel up to 70% of time
