Cost Accountant
The position plays a key role on the financial staff and interacts frequently with business management and managers in production and sales. Responsible for the financial control and reporting of all aspects of the manufacturing process.
Duties
Maintaining costing environment - responsible for understanding all aspects of manufacturing process as raw material converts to finished goods, and the related costing components; direct labor, absorption, material overhead, burden overhead and related variances, ensuring costs are recorded accurately to GL.
Coordinating month end close process for the manufacturing systems including the reconciliation of inventory accounts and manufacturing variances analysis.
Prepare month-end financial reporting schedules
Provide financial recommendations based on in-depth analysis of data.
Physical inventory observation and the auditing of the cycle count program.
Review production spending and assist in the development of overhead allocation.
Assist in developing enhanced business processes to streamline the monthly manufacturing close process.
Assist in annual budget planning process and monthly forecast process including manufacturing spending, purchase price variances, and other components of cost of sales, as well as inventory.
Perform daily costing activity (backflushing)
Assist with year end cost updating
Assist with improvement initiatives in different aspects of the business
Assist with ERP upgrades and conversions
Assist in other areas of the accounting department as needed such as payroll, sales tax, year end tax summaries.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and MS Office
- Working knowledge and proficiency of Vantage by Epicor
- High level knowledge of standard and variable cost accounting methods
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Organized and dependable
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be teamwork oriented
