Job Description

Cost Accounting Manager

Under the direction and supervision of the Controller and Plant Manager, performs the various general accounting and related functions associated with financial reporting including month end general ledger close, monthly forecasting, and other activities as assigned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs the activities necessary to record information generated by all the subsystems into the U.S. general ledger for the financial close month end reporting and reconciling all accounts. Including ledger link and Hyperion reporting for U.S. & Mexico.  This includes all related journals, reports and activities such as preparing year end audit work papers and the general maintenance of the CTS  (U.S. & Mex.) general ledgers, sales, tax reporting, etc.
  • Works with Controller on forecasting, budgeting, monthly reporting and other planning and reporting activities This includes assisting in monthly forecasting, the annual budget and other long and short range planning activities.  Specific examples include monthly Flash Commentary and Forecast Bridge reports, other analysis, and presentations.
  • Other Accounting Requirements, including SOX404, A/R and A/P supervision and follow up. Primarily responsible for quarterly reports such as the balance sheet review. Other responsibilities such as manual checks, misc. journals, insurance, liaison/contact with SBU/Corporate and other accounting depts.  and special projects.

  • Responsible for manufacturing costs and inventory accounting activities for the CTS Brownsville/Matamoros operation.  This includes maintaining the inventory perpetual records and costs, establishing new burden/labor rates, reconciling physical inventories, monitoring variances and other related inventory and cost accounting activities. Lead annual and mid-year inventory.  Work with Engineering on routing, structure and cost estimates (for quotes).

  • Prepare the annual US Customs Report and work with Import/Export department and with Import Brokers to assure compliance with US import regulations, including scrap and other issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Mimum of a BS Degree in accounting with 5-7 years experience in General ledger/computerized accounting, auditing, costing, reporting and supervisory experience.  Should be up to date on latest NAFTA regulations and procedures with experience in filing annual US Customs Reports.  Should have prior experience in maintaining general ledger with a fully interfaced accounting system, in a manufacturing accounting environment with a working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
