Job Description:

The Brand Solutions Division of Matthews International is seeking a Creative Artist to work on site at a major brand owner client near Norwalk, CT.  We are seeking an experienced individual to support brand innovation and renovation project needs for packaging. The candidate will serve as a creative designer/production artist for brand refreshes, line extensions and special early stage mock up conceptual development. 

The client site environment is fast-paced and dynamic.  Candidate will deal with multiple projects across multiple brands and packaging types concurrently.

The candidate will work with the latest versions of Illustrator/Photoshop packaging files; scan/vectorize logos, produce halftones from CT's, retrieve/import CAD designs, typeset, build traps/bleeds. Develop color proofs of graphics, translate to and build physical packaging prototypes.

A summary of duties to include:

·         Take direction from On Site Graphics Manager for packaging projects related to client innovation and renovation Manage personal daily schedule to meet project milestones within overall timeline.

·         Maintain on site proofing device.  Oversee, perform and coordinate any maintenance, troubleshooting or repair of the equipment.  Perform periodic diagnostics and calibration of device to ensure color consistency

·         Gather color contract proofs output via remote link from production facility on the on site proofing device and certify for content and color accuracy before sharing with the client.  Qualify proofs using ColorEye software.  Validate color of proofs using spectrophotometer to ensure color is within acceptable tolerance.

·         Manage quick turn client requests for packaging production art.  Develop color proofs of graphics to review with client stakeholders.  Translate graphics to and build physical packaging prototypes.

·         Support On-Site Team, which may involve participating in project kick-off meetings and administrative duties to support projects.  Assist On Site Project Manager in gathering project elements from key client stakeholders which may include internal project leads, package commercialisation management, packaging engineers, legal, compliance, marketing, ad agencies and others.

Qualifications:                     2+ Years of Packaging industry experience required

                                                BS Degree in Graphics Communication or related field preferred

                                                Proficiency with Illustrator and Photoshop on Macintosh computers

                                                Strong customer service orientation required

                                                Familiarity with gravure, offset and flexo print disciplines
