Credit Risk Analyst

The Opportunity:

The position is responsible for actively creating timely, accurate MIS to monitor and communicate performance of the consumer credit portfolios (secured and unsecured). Responsible for providing empirically derived analyses of portfolio performance and develop and propose strategies for credit origination, account management and collections processes. This position will also be responsible for mitigating loss rates and setting performance for product management by incorporating delinquency forecasts, volume estimates, loss reserve allocations, competitive information, loss expectations, and other key drivers such as activation, utilization, and attrition.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

 

• Responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust MIS environment to support active portfolio management which includes, but is not limited to: Loss Forecasting, Consumer ALLL, Policy Exception reporting, performance tracking, and Vintage analysis.
• Responsible for analysis, implementation, and validation of credit policy, risk and/or marketing systems in an effort to manage and mitigate the risk of consumer receivable portfolios
• Responsible for working with business partners to administer credit policy, support lending, account management and acquisition efforts, and presenting analytical results at regular business review or risk meetings
• Proactively review and analyze existing business unit strategies and recommend and implement new strategies, as appropriate (i.e. credit line management, collections, authorizations, communications, card reissue, and dynamic re-pricing modules), develop economic and portfolio forecasts and planning, as appropriate
• Ensure compliance monitoring is in place, including processes for management of operational risk, in accordance with Company and regulatory standards
• Analyze implement policy, pricing, and decision matrices into the Consumer Lending system. Administer and support implementation and testing of the Loan Origination System.

• 3-5+ years progressive growth in financial services companies, risk management experience is necessary
• 2+years experience in creating and managing data collection, storage and delivery processes (MIS) to provide business owners and risk managers with fact-based information from which they can make better decisions
• Demonstrated success working as part of an analytical Risk (quantitative resources) team.
• Extensive experience with risk policy, analytic and segmentation/targeting strategies using credit bureau and demographic data
• Strong presentation and communication/influencing skills
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, related field or equivalent experience
• Strong management, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, project management and verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages such and SAS, SQL, VB, MS OFFICE
• 2+years experience in sourcing, implementing and developing scorecards and/or predictive scoring models to predict customer behavior, mitigate credit loss, or maximize bank profits.
