Customer Care Representative


The Teaching Company (“TTC” or the “Company”), based in Chantilly, Virginia, is a growth-oriented direct marketing education business that supplies university-level lectures taught by premier professors from leading universities via DVDs, CDs and other formats through catalogs and its website.  The Teaching Company is the nation's leading publisher of university-level courses on DVD. 


 


The Teaching Company is best known for its market-leading product line known as "The Great Courses," which is targeted toward lifelong learners.  TTC offers more than 300 courses in nine subject categories, comprising more than 3,000 hours of content.  The Company enjoys strong brand loyalty driven by uncompromising product quality and a commitment to complete customer satisfaction.


 


The courses range from a relatively brief course of twelve 30 minute lectures to 96 lectures with over 48 hours of content.  Available topics cover a spectrum of interests, from music appreciation and literature to such titles as "No Excuses:  Existentialism and the Meaning of Life," and "The Joy of Thinking: The Beauty and Power of Classical Mathematical Ideas."

Position Summary:


Interacts with customers with all aspects of purchasing, owning, and returning our products.


 


Major Responsibilities:




  • Managing relationships with customers; generating additional sales by up-selling and cross-selling


  • Resolving complaints, general questions, processing orders, and various administrative projects needed in the operation of the call center


  • Communicating with customers through a variety of means; telephone, e-mail and regular mail correspondence


  • Achieving detailed knowledge of the product and policies of the company so as to provide expert service to customers


  • Must be able to adapt to frequent changes in policy and information

 


The ideal candidate for the Customer Care Representative position at TTC will have:


·         Associates Degree


·         Strong Computer Skills


·         Excellent Verbal and Written  Communication


·         Outstanding Customer Service Skills


·         Ability to work as part of a team


·         Ability to sit  at computer for extended periods of time


·         2-3 years experience preferred in an inbound sales and service environment

Work Schedule:


Multiple shifts are available:




  • 4am to 1pm schedule (Tuesday through Saturday)


  • Floater schedules: Availability between 9am and 9pm or 12pm and 12am (8 hour shifts) with some weekend shifts.
