Job Description:


We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Customer Service Representative at our Providence, Rhode Island location. This position will be assigned the 11:00am - 8:00pm shift Monday - Friday.





Position Overview


Provides account service to brokers, shareholders, and other internal and external customers. Responds to telephone and written inquiries and conducts research when necessary. Actively participates in a backup capacity for other business areas and on specific Project Management tasks. Offers support to other Columbia Funds Services Inc. (CMSI) departments including Dealer Services and BFDS business partners.





The Client Services Representative is expected to maintain a knowledge call quality and performance level that exceeds the department productivity standards while simultaneously performing additional responsibilities. Representatives must demonstrate expertise in specialized service topics such as commission questions, paperwork inquires, and IRA issues.





Principal Responsibilities


1. Strong emphasis is placed on the ability to collaborate effectively with others, promote a team effort and willingly act as a resource and mentor to all associates. Works with team to define and achieve department and individual goals.


2. Provides service to financial advisors, including Bank of America Investment Services (BAIS) brokers, internal clients like CMDI internal and external wholesalers, CMSI back office and BFDS business partners.


3. Possesses strong knowledge of CMSI policies and acts as a resource in procedural matters including Legal and Compliance requirements. Takes ownership of problem resolution and follows through on commitments in a timely fashion.


4. Demonstrates expertise in advanced commission issues, adjustment writing and verification, imprest check issuance/bookkeeping, UCHECK verification, Federal Fund Wire verification, complex account research, year-end tax issues and legal document review.


5. Maintains current understanding of the financial industry and the impact that fundamental changes to market environment may have on our clients. Each specialist is expected to have increased knowledge of our product line in order to field inquiries from internal and external clients regarding fund performance and is responsible for updating product specific content on Fund Specialist section of TRIO.


6. Facilitates outbound service campaigns as required by department initiatives/company needs.


7. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.




Job Qualifications





1. Must possess high degree of initiative, self-motivation, organizational and problem solving skills.





2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.





3. NASD Series 6 and 63 required.





4. 2 years experience, consisting of 1 year of experience providing customer service in the financial services industry and 1 year experience of account analysis, research and/or adjustment processing preferred.





5. Attention to detail and accuracy.





6. Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and fundamental math skills.








7. Ability to work in a multi-tasked and rapidly changing environment.





8. Ability to utilize a personal computer with multiple proprietary and non-proprietary software applications, as well as office systems in a Windows environment. Must exhibit aptitude & willingness to learn advanced skills on all applications.





9. Ability to sit at a desk for an extended period of time.





10. Ability to maintain timely and consistent attendance, as attendance is critical to this position.
