1. Work with the team of state staff to setup and configuration of Oracle 11G database software and instances in a Windows Server 2008 environment. This will also involve usage of EMC SAN storage for the database store. Specific experience with EMC SAN storage is not required.
2. Provide technical support to the application team in the areas of database connectivity and authentication.
3. Provide Oracle database technical support and expertise to assist the application team in testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting application issues. This could involve copying and restoring database tables to support iterative testing processes. Experience with COBOL and Java is not required.
4. Provide Oracle database technical support and expertise to assist the application team in analyzing overall database and application performance, identifying performance issues and bottlenecks, and recommending database related performance improvements where appropriate.
5. Provide Oracle administration and technical support for the migration activities required to move the application database to Oracle 11G on a Windows platform. This support could include, but not be limited to, creation of database instances in Oracle to support migration testing and validation, analyzing and troubleshooting migration performance issues, assist with planning, organizing and scheduling migration testing and production cutover activities, and coordinating with other teams including Windows, Storage, Backups, and Database to meeting project requirements when appropriate.
6. Provide Oracle Application Server administration and tuning, in addition to providing performance analysis support to the development team on areas of improving code performance and the System Administration Team on operating system performance. Although this skill would provide a well rounded resource, database administration will be the resources primary focus.
7. Provide off hours and on call Oracle database support to the Project when required for application and migration testing and during final production migration cutover for the data conversion of DB2 to the Oracle environment. Specific experience with DB2 is not required.
8. Provide off hour implementation and support to include a Friday thru Monday schedule during the database production migration cutover. This will include coverage throughout the weekend and evening hours and may additionally include a holiday depending on the project schedule.
