Customer Test and Install Technician

CTI Team Function:
The Customer Test and Installation team is responsible for all Level 3 customer transport circuit activations. This entails the logical build, field scheduling, test, troubleshooting, acceptance and quality assurance of both On-Net Level 3 circuits as well as Off-net (often Type II) circuits, ranging from sub-DS1 to OC192 Wavelengths.

Principal Job Responsibilities and Job Description:
A Customer Test and Install Technicians responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The timely activation of all transport Level 3 external customer circuits, ensuring all metric/critical dates are met on or before required completion dates. Ensuring all required work is completed to Level 3's high standards and subsequently delivering the best possible service to our external customers. Working the day to day documented Customer activation processes ensuring all issues that may detract from the customers overall experience are identified and in-turn eradicated, all while maintaining a high level of integrity and in turn providing a seamless positive experience for each of our customers for each of their circuit activations and installations. Communicating any and all installation and troubleshooting activity effectively via Clarify/OM/AMT/POPS log notes as well as via E-mail and Phone.

Required Knowledge and skills:
The Customer Test and Install technician must be proficient in telecommunications transmission or Layer 1 testing and troubleshooting and must also be highly technically proficient. Knowledge of the following technologies, standards and equipment is highly recommended and preferred: SONET, SDH, Wide Area Networking (WAN), Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM), Nortel DX and Optera, Alcatel DCS and ADM, Fujitsu ADM, Ciena CoreDirector and K2, Centest or other remote testing equipment, Digital Lightwave Test Sets, UNIX, Cisco Routers, ATM, Windows, SSH, TLS, Nortel Preside and OPC. #M
