DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

About the Job

Job Title:                   Development Associate (25 hours per week)                 


 


Job Purpose:           Manage data base and support Hartford Public Library fundraising initiatives


 


Reporting to:            Chief Development Officer


 


Key Responsibilities:


 


Data Base


·        Manages data processing operations and record maintenance of the Library’s constituent database, Raiser's Edge in support of the Library’s annual fund, fundraising events, and development goals


·        Supports daily office operations related to mailings, gift entry, receipting, acknowledging, event invitation and guest lists, and record maintenance


·        Provides administrative support for all development activities.


 


Fundraising:



  • Assists in prospect research on potential individual, corporate, foundation and government funding sources

  • Assists in the cultivation and solicitation of individual and organization prospects

  • Participates in the program and exhibit development processes to ensure that the fund raising department is represented in these activities.

 


Organization:


·        Assists in the organization and management of fundraising events  



  • In coordination with CDO produces statistical and analytical reports on fundraising efforts

  • Assists in the creation, implementation and ongoing coordination of all development programs, initiatives and events.

 


Communications:



  • Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with existing and potential donors

  • Creates and manages a set of periodic donor/prospect communications including newsletters, updates, etc

  • Supports activities to comply with reporting requirements of funders.

  


Other duties as assigned


Key Requirements:



  • A BA degree in English, Journalism or related field and minimum of three years experience in nonprofit development or for profit sales preferred. Combination of education and work experience considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to assist in the cultivation and solicitation individual prospects


  • Comfortable working in a team approach, with shared responsibility for success

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, with occasional participation in evening and weekend events.

 


The Hartford Public Library offers a competitive salary of $ 18.47 - $20.32 per hour.
