Responsibilities:
1. Leader in the data modeling of company’s next generation operational and analytical data schemas
2. Develop data architecture based on MDM co-existence pattern
3. Collaborate with business analysts in gathering business requirements for each operational subject area
4. Translate business requirements to operational data requirements
5. Lead in the development of modeling methodology (hierarchal, domain, etc), standards, guidelines and approaches
6. Develop logical data model for company’s operational data
7. Develop canonical XML schemas for SOA entity services
8. Collaborate with DBA in developing physical data model
9. Collaborate with DBA in implementing the schema into the DBMS
10. Collaborate with development teams in resolving performance query problems including optimizing query plans through index management and join analysis
11. Own the integrity of the data within the schema definition
12. Collaborate with BI team in the development of next generation analytical data marts
Skills required:
1. Experience in leading teams in data modeling efforts for both operational and analytical data centric projects
2. Experience in architecting strategic data architectures that consider the both the movement and management of data
3. Experience in working in organizations that have implemented event based data architectures
4. Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate to broad audiences in group settings
5. Experience in mentoring others in data modeling best practices
6. Excellent knowledge of SQL Server architecture or similar
7. Experience with modeling software like ERWIN
8. Knowledge of Hibernate and optimization of physical schemas for Hibernate a plus
9. Familiarity with Student Loan Industry, Financial Education Industry, and/or Educational Web Software a plus
10. BA or BS in Computer Science or related discipline; Masters preferred.
