Position Title: Data Architect
Reports to: Enterprise Data Architect, Architecture & Emerging Technology
Location: Home Office - New Albany, OH
Position Summary:
The Data Warehouse Data Architect is responsible for detailed database design and modeling, balancing optimization of data access with resource utilization factors on a Netezza MPP platform. The individual in this position is knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and constructing logical and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse as well as developing the associated metadata that supports analytic data needs. Additionally, this role includes responsibilities for all production Netezza DBA and system administration tasks.
The Data Warehouse Data Architect will assist the Enterprise Data Architect in assuring a reliable, consistent, secure, flexible and supportable enterprise wide data warehouse foundation at A&F.
Responsibilities:
· Perform routine production DBA tasks such as backup and recovery, running genstats, vacuum and reclaim utilities.
· Monitors the health and performance of the Netezza environment.
· Works with the vendor during system upgrades and the implementation of patches.
· Participates in database design for analytic processes.
· Maintains Netezza ddl using Erwin and creates all data objects on a Netezza platform.
· Performance tune ETL load processes and front end SQL queries.
· Mentor members of the development staff on writing efficient sql queries.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (e.g., library science, engineering) is required.

· 8 - 15 years of experience in IT
· In depth knowledge of business intelligence / data warehouse development techniques required (ETL, OLAP, MOLAP, ROLAP, star schema, Inmon methodology).
· Strong understanding of design principles regarding MPP relational database management systems such as Netezza and Teradata.
· Working knowledge of Netezza DBA utilities and system administration.
· Knowledge of the Erwin data modeling tool including logical / physical modeling and metadata capabilities.
