Position Description
The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned ETL developer that demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of data warehousing with emphasis on data transformation and integration issues through the development life cycle.
This individual must have been through multiple iterations of successful data warehouse projects and successfully utilized an ETL tool (e.g. Data Integrator, Informatica, Ascential Data Stage, Oracle Warehouse Builder etc) Principal Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain ETL maps and SQL scripts to retrieve data for analysis and reporting
• Support the production ETL jobs by monitoring and resolving any issues
• Understand high-level data warehousing requirements of the business.
• Work closely with data architect and analytics team to understand system and business requirements.
• Develop and maintain standards for ETL administration and operation including the scheduling, running, monitoring, logging, management of errors, recovery from failures, and validation of outputs to target systems.
• Represent the enterprise perspective in data movement and transformation design discussions
• Contribute to the project planning process by estimating ETL tasks and deliverables.
• Facilitates design reviews and code walkthroughs Qualifications (background, education, experience, and other requirements):
• Expert level knowledge of an ETL tool (e.g. Data Integrator, Informatica, Ascential Data Stage or Oracle Warehouse Builder)
• Expert level knowledge of SQL
• Excellent analytic thinker and problems solver
• Demonstrated proficiency in Oracle, PLSQL and SQL PLUS
• Experience with Linux and NT environments
• Experience with Unix Shell Scripts (Korn Shell, Awk, Perl)
• Experience in FTP and file processing Desirable
• 5 years solid experience as an ETL developer in data warehousing environments, using Business Objects Data Integrator or similar ETL tools.
Educational Requirements:
• BS in Computer Science, MIS, business, or equivalent education/training/experience
Skills/Characteristics:
• Specific application experience with Billing, Customer Care, eCommerce, Web logs and Financial systems
• Familiar with SQL Server, MySQL
• Familiar with Star Schemas and design principals
• Self-starter, team-oriented and very analytical
