Title: Medical Transcriptionist

Department: All Regional Operating Companies

Reports to: Transcription Supervisor

Job Summary

A Medical Consulting Medical Transcriptionist position is a full-time, hourly position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Depending on the demands of  clients, Transcriptionists may be required to work beyond a 40 hour work week being paid overtime pay at time and a half. Transcriptionists are required to transcribe the dictations of physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient assessment, workup, therapeutic procedures, clinical course, diagnosis, prognosis, etc., in order to document patient care. Transcriptionists are required to type all medically dictated cases in chronological order of due time. Transcriptionists are required to maintain an average Line per Hour count of 160.


Minimum Requirements

1. Arrive at work on time and ready to work every work day

2. Use transcription software provided on their issued computers

3. General Typing Skills at 90wpm

4. Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2003 (or more recent)

5. Ask for help when needed

6. Support others in a team environment

7. Observe and respect the organizational flow of the office

8. Sign and abide by the confidentiality agreement and the Employee Handbook


Essential Job Functions

1. Transcribe reports from the reviewers in a prompt, professional, and efficient manner

2. General Typing Skills at 90wpm or more

3. Excellent time management skills to ensure time sensitive material is prioritized and processed.

4. Transcribe dictations into the correct templates

5. Return reports in electronic form and printed case form to the medical reviewer

6. Recognition of grammatical inconsistencies

7. Identification of potential mistakes in medical terminology

8. Reference medical dictionaries or reviewers for clarification

9. Highlight omissions or mistakes in dictation, and bring them to the attention of the Transcription Supervisor

10. Reach and maintain an average of 160 lines per hour daily upon completion of Introductory Period

11. Type all cases from in chronological order, the most urgent first.
