Role: Data Integration Architect for large Retail Systems

Description of role: The Integration Data Architect position is a contract position responsible for defining logical data models and schemas for the flow of information between Retail and Home Office systems. ​  The architect will have a specific functional area of focus, and report to the Integration Project Manager.​  The successful candidate will have a general understanding of the end to end retail business processes, and the specific expertise necessary to understand the context of data elements within their assigned area of responsibility.​  This position requires the technical confidence to work independently and strong communication skills in order to present their output in a business context to other members of the team.​  The Data Architect must consult with their peers, incorporating feedback to their models as well as validating and providing comment on the output of others  .

Skills Set:

·         Strong interpersonal, strategic-oriented thinking and excellent written and verbal skills are essential.​

·         Bachelors Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related IT discipline.​

·         Minimum of 5 years experience in systems /​ data architecture, modeling and solution design within Retail businesses.​

·         Specific knowledge of Retail Home Office and Store systems including the ability to understand which data elements support which business processes within a Retail context.​  (including the ability to spot where information is duplicated under the same name)

·         The ability to create data models and define in the Retail systems portfolio

·         Experience in design, development and deployment of multiplatform and multi-technology environments.​

·         Knowledge of business, information and technical architectures, application design patterns, data and XML messaging models, and application modeling techniques (UML).​

·         In-depth understanding of SOA design principles, enterprise architecture frameworks and design principles

·         Expertise in SQL and relational databases such IBM DB2 and Oracle

·         Experience with Extreme Programming and Agile methodologies

·         Related certifications in Architecture and/​or Project Management are an asset
