Data Warehouse Engineer
We are looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer who is highly self-directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent and competing challenges, issues, ambiguities, and contradictions. The day to day duties would require the candidate to architect, design, document, lead, develop and operationalize (EDW/ODS/DM etc.,) integration solutions as appropriate using Informatica tool suite in accordance with industry best practices. This position also requires evaluation and recommendation of methods, software tools, definition of hardware requirements and system configuration in support integration solutions. Responsibilities:
• Will be responsible for architecture, design and maintenance of data and its integration architecture framework in of support of the information lifecycle management.
• Develop data models that support data processing and/or information management and delivery (semi-structured and unstructured).
• Create processes for capturing and defining information/data, standards, modeling Meta models and documentation.
• Determine integration strategies to ensure integration processes and Data Warehouse data model are optimized for data processing, reuse and scalability.
• Perform impact analysis on existing integration and EDW Data Model when new integration logic or new source systems are introduced into the data warehouse.
• Contribute to architecture, capacity planning and data quality activities for the data warehouse
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity management
• Work with engineering team and business users to resolve support and technical questions
• Responsible in preparing high level integration architecture and low level design documents to hand over to the developers
• Act as a lead working with onsite and offshore teams and managing development efforts
• Participate in our data integrations on call support rotation.
Qualifications:
• 3+ year’s progressive experience in enterprise information/data related disciplines, i.e., data modeling, architecture and integration in BI environments
• 3+ years of Informatica 8.xx Power Center.
• Strong analytical and integration SQL query writing skills
• Strong Unix shell scripting skills
• Good understanding of various database platforms, including Oracle, Netezza, Teradata
• PL/SQL programming is a PLUS
• Exposure to enterprise class data mining is a PLUS.
• Working knowledge of SAS Analytics and/or SPSS tools is a PLUS
• Experience in data modeling (3NF), dimensional modeling and object oriented modeling.
• Experience in creation of data dictionaries, defining metadata management approaches and governance processes.
• Experience creating enterprise models incorporating master and reference data.
• Solid understanding of transaction and information systems, data warehouses, data marts, ODS, MDM methodologies and life cycle as well as ETL and MDM technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain and document the Enterprise Information Architecture to diverse audiences (technical, business, etc).
