Data Network Specialist

About the Job

Data network specialists are responsible for the installation, configuration, and management of data network systems in both a stand-alone and client-server environment, including MS Exchange, Defense Message Systems, and other authorized data network systems. They install, confiqure, and maintain network services, both hardware and software. They also plan and execute the integration of multiple information systems in a network environment, evaluate and resolve customer information system problems, and effect required hardware upgrades and repair to maintain mission capability.

 

Candidate must be a US citizen and either possess or be eligible for a DoD SECRET clearance. Responsible for maintaining the process integrity of the AC&TI environment to include: lab hardware and software, testing platforms, and environment.  Candidate will support application, policy, and operating system compatibility and operations.  The successful candidate will conduct Quality Assurance checks on application tests and related documentation when needed.  The candidate will perform configuration functions on applications and packages and will assist in the efforts to maintain the process integrity of the government software application and operating system.  On occasion, the candidate may lead special/emerging technologies and pilot projects.  The Candidate will attend meetings as required and will aid test engineers in troubleshooting applications as well as provide Tier IV Support, as required.  The candidate will be required to analyze and document emerging technologies to be utilized on government networks. The Candidate is required to schedule and administrate functional, developmental and troubleshooting testing of applications to support government clients. The successful candidate must quickly develop a broad understanding of the programs and initiatives of the customer and must be able to set priorities in work assignments as well as an ability to delegate. Ability to create Visual Basic and MS-DOS scripts. Should have in-depth, systems administration experience with current Microsoft and Linux systems and hardware platforms and maintenance. The successful candidate must project a professional demeanor, utilizing oral and written communication skills of the highest quality. Interpersonal skills are extremely important as this position requires working with a senior professional staff, high-level government leadership within the customer organization

 

Required Skills: Intermediate proficiency in standard coding languages. Analyze complicated and difficult software programs for Windows based systems. Performing-level skills with Microsoft Sharepoint, MS Visio, MS Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Understanding/experience with Active Directory and Group Policy Management. Proficient in database management. Must have excellent organizational skills. Most work will be at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA.  Some travel, within CONUS, may be required

 

Desired Skills:  COMP TIA Security+ Certification, ITIL Foundation Certification, MSCA/MSCE. Understanding of application packaging and distribution for enterprise networks, network design and infrastructure, virtual application solutions, application virtualization solutions, Marine Corps and Navy Networks.
