Data Warehouse Architect/Modeler

Our customer is currently seeking a Data Warehouse Architect/Modeler to develop new Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solutions and support existing systems. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Data Warehouse Architecture and design methodologies, practices and standards. The work environment is stimulating, challenging, and fun. Primary responsibilities
• Works directly with the business to design a business intelligence strategy that maximizes the value of data as an enterprise asset and fulfills the needs of our clients
• Owns the overall design of BI solutions, including data models, meta-data, information delivery and ETL mappings. This includes influencing, selecting, blueprinting and designing BI solutions. Translates business needs into long-term information architecture solution.
• Produces dimensional models, develops source-to-target mapping and data transformation logic, documents standard calculations, and communicates these requirements to the design and build teams.
• Defines and drives process for Maintaining Data Quality metrics
• Supports the build out of the Data Warehouse, Data Marts and operational data store or staging areas
• Provides guidance regarding best practices, data validation, access, naming conventions, field size standardization and storage. Provide architectural leadership for applications and reporting.
• Assists in the development and implementation of various strategic initiatives around Meta Data Management, Master Data Management, Data Quality, Data Architecture Standards and Governance
• Participates in the various review processes associated with Data Architecture at the enterprise level
• Participates in data architecture design and review processes, including planning and monitoring efforts, reviewing deliverables and communicating to management
• Conducts data architecture reviews of Enterprise Road Maps and participates actively in the various processes around the same.
• Responsible for developing data warehouse blueprints, evaluating hardware and software platforms and integrating systems. Works with software team on architectural design to ensure performance and scalability.
• Effectively communicates with team members, business leaders up to executive leadership
EQUIVALENT EDUCATION LEVEL REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
Requirements
• Strong SQL skills
• Strong in data modeling (Normalization, Star Schema – Imnon / Kimble)
• Strong in data architecture (Data Warehousing, ODS, Data Marts, Staging, OLAP)
• Experience in ETL Development and Support – Standards, process and procedures
• Experience in a (or multiple) CASE tools (PowerDesigner, ERwin, ORACLE Designer 2000, ER/Studio, etc.).
• Expertise in two (or more) integration tools (Informatica,DTS, SSIS, Data Stage, etc.)
• Experience in a (or multiple) OLAP tools (Analysis Services, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.)
• Experience in a (or multiple) Reporting and Query tools (Microstrategy, Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, ProClarity, etc.)
• Mentor Architects, technical team leads and Software Engineers in BI-related architectural issues and best practices.
• Ability to lead in Business Intelligence Roadmaps
• Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Must be able to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders
• Strong business analysis, problem solving, data validation, and project management skills are essential
• Ability to author a range of artifacts to support the implementation of the data warehouse by the database administration team, ETL team, and application development team. Examples include dimensional models, source-to-target mapping, report mockups, and test cases

• Proven experience with different EA frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc) and Service Oriented or Component Architectures

Knowledge Requirements
• Knowledge and experience in development of data warehouse architectures for large volume reporting solutions and BI applications.
• Experience in designing data models to support reporting and analysis. Knowledge of industry accepted design techniques including Star and if necessary, Snowflake schemas.
• Experience in providing technical leadership to project team members and BI consumers.
• Database development experience in one or more market-leading database systems.
• Knowledge and experience in multiple reporting tools such as Business Objects or Crystal reports utilizing both relational and multidimensional tool architectures.
• Proven ability to design scalable solutions using traditional and agile methods.
• Outstanding customer relationship skills; quickly learn and apply new concepts.
• Knowledge of Business Requirements definition and documentation.
