Our Client is a software development company and they are a growing their consulting practice nationwide and are looking to hire an experienced Data Warehouse Architect to provide initial project consultation services and ongoing support for large-scale data warehouse and BI implementations at multiple clients on the east coast., The product is a data warehousing and data mining tool built with JAVA and .NET. which is used to find tax noncompliance by loading and analyzing hundreds of millions of electronic tax documents, but they have projects in all areas of revenue - including Integrated Tax, Unemployment Insurance Tax, and Child Support Enforcement. · We are growing our consulting practice nationwide and are looking to hire an experienced Technical Architect to provide initial project consultation services and ongoing support for large-scale data warehouse and BI implementations at multiple clients on the east coast. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: • BS in Computer Science or related field Familiarity with multiple database platforms such as Oracle, DB2 and SQL Server Ideal candidate will be local to Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill area for the first 18 months and open to travel 30-50% first year. Client location is in Raleigh.
Leveraging your strong background in data warehouse design and installation, your responsibilities will span all phases of solution implementation from initial proposal development through project startup and delivery and extending into ongoing support and solution sustainability.
Leveraging your strong background in database administration and data warehouse design/ installation, your responsibilities will span all phases of solution implementation from initial proposal development through project startup and delivery and extending into ongoing support and solution sustainability.
For new data warehouse installations, your responsibilities will include:
• Providing guidance on hardware options and sizing analysis
• Participating in hardware installation and configuration, particularly in areas affecting data warehouse performance, scalability, and sustainability
• Driving key performance decisions for the data warehouse and for web/application server configurations
For existing data warehouse installations, you will have responsibility for:
• Providing expert support on overall system performance by identifying and isolating performance bottlenecks
• Recommending performance improvements and partnering with the client to implement those improvements
• Educating the client as to best practices for measuring and managing data warehouse performance, strategies for long-term system sustainability, and for managing data security
• Providing critical “Tier 3” support to clients where onsite attention is required
As a Technical Subject Matter Expert, you will also have the opportunity to help influence strategic decisions impacting the design and development of Client’s product offerings, particularly in areas of performance, scalability, long-term sustainability, and RDBMS vendor options.
Relocation is not required, but you must be willing to travel to our client sites for a full 5-day work week. We anticipate that you will be on the road 75% of the time and that the majority of your travel will be to cities on the eastern seaboard (ME, MA, NC, MD, GA). Client does provide generous travel packages and you are able to return home on the weekends.

• Solid understanding of data warehouse performance, scalability, and sustainability options such as dedicated fibre channels, backend network configuration requirements, SAN options, physical disk configurations, and backup/recovery
• Experience with data warehouse hardware installations and sizing considerations
• Expertise in RDBMS performance configuration options such as partitioning, physical data architecture, block sizing and indexing
• Expertise in web/application server configurations and key performance issues such as redundancy, load balancing, and memory/session management
• Ability to quickly grasp technical issues and offer solutions
• Strong client relationship skills
• Ability to influence and drive to consensus
• Willingness to travel
