Position Summary

The Data Warehouse Technical Analyst performs test execution supporting code development for our Enterprise Data Warehouse and to a lesser extent our data interfaces. They will ensure products, applications, and systems are in compliance with established quality standards, and meet customer requirements. The Data Warehouse Technical Analyst should also be aware of and could participate in any phases of the data warehouse development cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and implement test plans, scripts, and tools to test ETL code in support of enterprise data warehouse ETL code development.
  • Demonstrate via a traceability matrix that the test scenarios relate to the detailed business requirements that have been documented.
  • Work with business and technology leads to identify the appropriate data for testing, and prepare that data for the test cases.
  • Execute system integration and user acceptance testing with thorough documentation of the test procedures and results.
  • Assist Application Developers and technical support staff in identifying and resolving problems
  • Facilitate resolution and communication of cross-application / organization architectural issues and decisions
  • Assessing and revise test sequence and scope based upon test results and / or changes in product design
  • Coordinating component, system and documentation testing with the appropriate technical groups and release management

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of Informatica, HP Quality Center and PL/SQL
  • Strong knowledge of test management for documentation and execution of test cases and test results
  • Knowledge and understanding of structured analysis and technical design techniques
  • Some knowledge of database management and file access methods is desirable; experience in online analytical processing (OLAP) is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills
  • Clear understanding of project management methodology in planning and monitoring projects in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
  • Demonstrated competency in testing including use of testing automation tools

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum 3 + years of experience in systems development and programming.  Significant experience with Informatica Powercenter version 8.0 or higher.
  • 2 + years hands-on experience with ETL test strategy planning and execution for user acceptance testing, business integration testing, and system integration testing (with traceability to business requirements)
  • Experience in creating test harness, scripts & data validation scripts using SQL Scripting (preferably in an Oracle environment)
  • Experience with test data identification and preparation
  • Experience in manual testing of ETL applications, documentation of test procedures and results
  • Hands on experience in end-to-end test management and defect management tools, HP (Mercury) Quality Center experience preferred
  • Experience as a team member on project teams in a cross-functional environment
