DUTIES: Demonstrates expert knowledge of database design principles, modeling and data administration standards by designing complex databases and mentoring less experienced staff on design processes.
- Develops and customizes all portions of implementation plans as needed to ensure success criteria are met.
- Provides consulting, coaching and mentoring on implementation.
- Demonstrates advanced understanding of databases and utilities by implementing moderately complex configurations.
- Provides consulting/guidance/coaching in predicting and monitoring performance and addressing related issues.
- Resolves complex database problems often involving multiple technology areas, sometimes performing lead role during outage and performance root cause analyses.
- Provides consulting as necessary.
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of recovery procedures and consulting.
- Ability to manage medium, enterprise wide system projects and provide appropriate reporting.
- Evaluates vendor performance based on experience and input from others.
- Prioritizes vendor activities by providing oversight and leading recommendation development.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Five plus years experience in production database environments. This should include in-depth knowledge and expi=erience with SQL Server Database Administration, as well as experience managing multiple instances of MSSQL 2000, 2005, and 2008 RDBMs in a distributed environment.
- Two years experience in application development or system programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data and database concepts and practices.
- Understands customer requirements to provide appropriate database solutions.
- Uses expert knowledge to provide consulting for data integrity and data availability.
- Handles multiple tasks, takes initiative, team player, problem solver, professional and effective communication skills (written and verbal). Excellent interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION/TRAINING DESIRED: Master's degree, Six Sigma certification or experience desirable.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED: MCDBA Certification and B.S. degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field required.
