Database Administrator / Consultant
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is currently accepting and reviewing resumes for a Database Engineer within the Department of Information Systems and the Database Administration group.
In this position, the selected candidate will be responsible for the performance of Database Administration and Database design and development functions for an expanding suite of Oracle-based applications, with an emphasis on providing Oracle DBA support for PeopleSoft Supply Chain Management, Financials, and Human Resources databases hosted on HP-UX Itanium servers.
These functions include RDBMS software installation, maintenance and support; creation and modification of database storage structures and objects; managing user access to databases; monitoring and optimizing database performance and availability; planning and execution of recovery schemes; technical support for development activities, including logical and physical database design and development of database stored procedures.
This position is slated for a 2 – 3 year engagement, with the possibility of full-time, permanent employment.
Qualifications
- Requirements include a minimum of 3 years of Oracle database design, development and administration experience in a PeopleSoft Supply Chain Management / Financials / HRMS environment.
- Knowledge of Unix operating systems is required; experience in implementing Oracle Real Application Clusters and Data Guard standby databases on HP-UX is preferred, along with experience using Oracle Recovery Manager and Tivoli Storage Manager for Databases.
- An Associate's degree in Information Systems, Computer Sciences or equivalent is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
