Job summary

The MySQL DBA will provide design, implementation, and maintenance of high-availability database architecture. This position will be responsible for gathering business data requirements and translating those data requirements into logical and physical database models. It also includes the responsibility for monitoring and day-to-day management of the database environments and traditional Database Administrator (DBA) responsibilities.

Summary of essential job functions

·         Review and rework, as necessary, the MySQL disaster recovery plan

·         Optimize the existing database queries

·         Tune and adjust the database access for the environment and requirements

·         Design and implement database replication to address scalability issues

·         Work with Warehouse Database Architect to aid the Database Warehouse ETL effort

·         Maintain and monitor the database systems to ensure their proper operation, performance, and availability.

·         Develop business requirements and technical architecture for database applications.

·         Responsible for all basic DBA duties for MySQL database servers.

·         Excellent analytical skills and ability to create complex datasets for a team of analysts.

·         Familiarity with MySQL 5.0 services, report development and administration.

Minimum requirements

·         4+ years of professional experience with MySQL and other relational databases.

·         Strong experience with disaster recovery and business continuity concepts and practices.

·         Proficiency in MySQL tuning and optimization.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·         Strong conceptual, logical and physical data modeling skills.

·         Strong understanding of multi-tier application architectures.

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.
