Job Description:

The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the quality and performance of all production and test databases.  Candidate will support a group of 8 to 10 developers and 70 business users in several locations in the US and Europe. 

Responsibilities:

·         Provides database administration on a small but growing number of production Oracle databases in a UNIX environment to ensure security, redundancy, scalability, and availability.

·         Assists development and front-line support teams to troubleshoot problems and to enforce fundamentals of good database design.

·         Test and manage vendor supplied upgrades and patches to rdbms.

·         Work with network administrators to manage a successful backup and recovery strategy as it relates to Oracle databases.

·         Be a part of a small but growing IT infrastructure support team offering 24x7 support to both internal and external business partners.

Required Skills:

·         Fundamentals of Oracle 10g Administration including backup and recovery techniques

·         Strong working knowledge of Unix fundamentals, best practices, and shell scripting

·         Proficiency in PL/SQL

·         Understanding of Oracle performance tuning concepts and techniques

·         Familiarity with IT change management processes and controls; version control concepts and tools

·         Familiarity with relational database design concepts and modeling tools

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 to 3 years experience as an Oracle DBA in a financial setting and 4 to 5 years relevant IT experience overall.  Candidates must be detail oriented; have excellent oral and written communication skills; be capable of managing multiple projects; and possess good problem solving skills.  Task prioritization skills and time management skills are required.  A broad understanding of financial markets is preferred.
