OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE
Responsible for designing, planning and implementing databases, including security, access and documentation. Provides technical assistance in identifying, evaluating, and developing systems and procedures as they relate to databases.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, designing, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.
Assists in the development of a maintenance strategy and maintenance scripts.
Ensures accuracy and availability of data.
Assists with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization.
Understands database backup/recovery procedures and develops backup scripts.
Develops and operates a cost-effective data base environment.
Analyzes database performance statistics and performs required tuning activities to optimize database performance.
Recommends continuous improvement in database administration.

EDUCATION
Minimum education
Four year degree.

Essential special training requirements
In-depth knowledge of SQL and database performance optimization. Experience with both DB2 and SQL Server 2000. DBA experience in multiple operating system environments, to include Windows 2000, Linux, and AIX.
Other skills
Experience with DB2 8.1. Experience with MySql. Experience with Ctree. Self-starter. Ability to work with Customers and understand their requirements. Good communicator.
