Database Administrator

Position Overview:  We are looking for a Database Administrator located at our corporate office in Inver Grove Heights, MN.  Responsibilities for this position include: ensuring the control, integrity, and accessibility of the database file structure of one or more databases with multiple concurrent users.  Approves database specifications, install and test databases and associated products, provide fault isolation and resolution, design the distribution of database resources, provide physical modeling and design services, tune database applications for optimum performance, and implement disaster recovery and contingency plans.  Responsible for quality control and auditing of databases to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.  Works with management to develop database strategies to support company needs.  Consults with and advises users on access to various databases.  Works directly with users to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage.  Provide rotating 24x7 support and production management.

 

Requirements:  At least five years of proven database administration experience.  A minimum of two years of professional Information Technology experience with one or more years working with a large development environment in a high demand-based, service oriented environment.  Strong organizational abilities, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.  Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.   Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.   Essential to have good technical writing skills and willingness to adequately document all work performed.  Strong knowledge of DTS packages and SQL replication.  Strong optimization, database sizing, capacity planning, back up and recovery skills.  Understanding of MS SQL server security administration.  Performance tuning/MS SQL server development skills - SQL Profiler and PerfMon, SQL scripts, stored procedures, triggers, functions and transactions analysis, thorough understanding of indices and statistics (Query Optimizer).  Systems architecture and design knowledge and experience required.  Experience working with high-availability clusters required.  Knowledge of optimizing the use of hardware subsystems for MS SQL server storage.  Plusses include: SAN experience, Oracle experience and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
