Position Summary

 

VideoMining Corporation is seeking a qualified Database Administrator (DBA) to provide database administration and support for the design, development, production, test, and management environments of a web-based data analysis and reporting application. We are looking for a self-motivated professional who can work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

 

Day-to-day activities will include: system monitoring; problem investigation and resolution; intelligent and efficient data warehouse back-up creation and maintenance; SQL-related implementation and administration; database optimization; and support for product development and enhancement projects. Responsibilities will also include monitoring and auditing the integrity of the data, and working with internal and client teams to compile the data and help with specific data analytics projects.

 

VideoMining is a leading provider of software-based services for converting video into actionable information. The company’s breakthrough technologies work with surveillance-type cameras to automatically derive behavior and demographics of people to provide retail businesses with real-time “intelligence” for improving customer service, marketing, and merchandising. Experience/Skills Required

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

  1. BS/BA in information science and technology, computer science, or a related field
  2. Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  3. Strong understanding of relational databases and database management systems, such as MySQL, Oracle, Sybase or DB2
  4. Experience in SQL-based implementation and administration
  5. Knowledge of data warehouse design, construction, and management
  6. Experience working with logical data model and schema design, development, and optimization 

Preferred experience includes:

  1. Understanding of MicroStrategy Business Intelligence (BI) platform and development of BI applications using the MicroStrategy SDK
  2. Background in web programming using Java, C, C++, JavaScript, Web Services, and ASP.net
  3. Experience in script language, such as Python, is a plus
  4. Experience in the retail industry
