Role Summary/Purpose
The eCommerce Database Administrator (DBA) is primarily responsible for management of the eCommerce production DBMS environment. The DBA will work closely with Systems Engineers, Network Engineers, Application Developers, Tech Support, and EDI Management to support the Oracle based production and staging systems. Thorough understanding of the eCommerce production environment will be essential.

Essential Responsibilities
Essential duties include database maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning, designing procedures for benchmarking and ensuring information security.Working in cross-functional project teams that include Development, Quality Assurance, and Application Support. Configuration and maintenance of databases on production and staging servers. Communicate directly with team members/end users to diagnose and resolve issues.Coordinate and perform database installations, upgrades, and patches.Work with other team members to continually improve our delivery and processes.Actively participate on project team meetings to achieve team goals.Compliance with business policies and industry standard best practices with regard to database security, recoverability, and auditing.Create and maintain documentation of DBA procedures, policies, and system configurations.Off-hours and on-call production support may be required.Adherence to internal and external production SLAs.Limited travel may be required.

Qualifications/Requirements
Previous experience with Oracle database installation, administration and performance tuning on UNIX based platforms is mandatory. Solid working knowledge of UNIX/Linux is required for this position.Demonstrated ability to provide production level support to enterprise class mission critical database applications.Qualifications include a Bachelors degree or 7 years of work experience in database or system administration.A minimum of 4 years of experience with database backup, recovery, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.Proficiency in SQL coding and performance tuningAbility to work within a diverse, technically oriented, team setting is a must.Ability to work as a member of cross-departmental project teams will also be necessary.Willingness to participate in team on-call rotation, and perform off hours work as needed.Strong technical and project leadership skills are required.The ability to quickly absorb new changes in computer technologies is necessary.Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Organized and detail oriented.Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks as well as attention to details is necessary.Excellent communication skills.

Desired Characteristics
Bachelors degree in a technical area (preferable in CS or EE) Oracle 10g or 11g experience is strongly desired.Experience with any of the following Oracle technologies is strongly desired: Real Application Clusters (RAC) Automatic Storage Management (ASM) Partitioning and Data Warehouse design/implementation Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control DataguardExperience with HP servers and HP-UX operating system.Understanding of enterprise data networking and storage area networks.Software product development lifecycle experience.Oracle certification is preferred.Experience with Oracle PL/SQL coding and performance tuningLogical and physical DBMS design, as well as database systems architecture is also a plusKnowledge of healthcare industry systems and applications is a plus.Solid working knowledge of MS SQL Server and Windows Six Sigma experience
