Position Summary:
Under General direction, the Database Administrator will be responsible for daily administration of production Oracle databases and act as the control point for identifying, trouble-shooting and resolving database problems.
Duties and Job Responsibilities:
• Monitors and assists with the maintenance of Oracle production databases
• Performs daily checks to ensure that production databases are operational during normal business hours
• Monitors and works Remedy trouble tickets in support of database application users
• Performs periodic backups of production databases
• Troubleshoots database errors and recovers database objects as needed
• Assists with the development and enforcement of database administration and user security standards and procedures
• Performs other services deemed reasonable by the supervisor
Education, Training and Experience:
Any combination of education and training equivalent to possession of a Bachelor's degree that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. Sufficient formal and/or informal training experience in Database Management Systems (DBMS) administration and maintenance, database design, analysis, and management;
Required Skills:
• Sequential Query Language (SQL) or equivalent experience with writing automated scripts
• Familiar with the UNIX environment and ability to perform basic system administration tasks
• Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with users and office staff
• Work independently and as a team member; set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of the work day
Preferred Skills:
• RAC experience within the Oracle environment
• Sequential Query Language (SQL) experience within the Oracle, Microsoft SQL, DB2, My SQL, or some other RDBMS environment
• Familiar with the UNIX environment and ability to troubleshoot database errors and recover database objects as needed
• Experience with Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) and other data connectivity protocols

• Perform on-call duties after normal work hours as needed
