Position: Database Architect                                        

Duration: Direct Hire

EXPERIENCE

The following are job requirements:

            - a BSCS or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, expert C programmer

            - knowledgeable of network directory protocols such as LDAP

            - experience with embedded persistence stores including database conversion, delta record management, etc.

            - experience with embedded databases (e.g. SQLite)

            - understanding of database recovery, log shipping, and replication

            - understanding of different file systems (network and local) with implications on database locks, fragmentation, redundancy, etc.

The following would be advantages to the successful candidate:

            - experience with embedded Linux

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the leader of the Software Competency Center within the Advanced Development Center.  This group is responsible for creating, testing, and maintaining a distribution of re-usable software libraries that will be shared throughout Thomson's products.  The initial focus is on the products with embedded software (e.g., STBs, Home Gateways, Media Gateways).    The person filling this position will be responsible for ensuring the flexibility and integrity of the software used to implement all persistent (local and network) data stores.
