Database Engineer IV

Database Engineer's at VeriSign are responsible for building some of the world's most critical Internet infrastructure that thousands of businesses and millions of people depend on everyday.  VeriSign is searching for the best and brightest to join our team as a Database Engineer IV. 
 
The successful candidate will:
 
·          Function as a thought leader in database technology.
·          Lead the design of high performance, mission critical OLTP databases in a UNIX environment
·          Manage and tune large DSS databases in a UNIX environment. 
·          Develop advanced PL/SQL packages that meet the highest quality and performance standards.
·          Continuously improve the performance and resilience of database architectures.
·          Be involved in the full life cycle (analysis, design, development and maintenance) of software projects. 
·          Develop data models of multiple dependent systems
·          Leverage replication technologies such as Golden Gate and Oracle Streams for data propagation.
·          Write detailed analysis and design documents. 
·          Interact well with other team members through both written and verbal communications on a daily basis. 
·          Commitment to on-time delivery of engineering products.
·          Quickly understand complex issues and provide expert technical answers.
·          Have expert knowledge in AWR and Sql Trace
·          Be proficient in shell scripting and PERL
 
 



Key Requirements:
 
-          7+ years of demonstrated experience on developing database applications and documentation for OLTP database systems in an Oracle, Mysql and Unix environment. 
 
-          Demonstrated proficiency with Data Modeling, Database Administration, SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Unix and Perl scripting.  Must have strong Oracle PL/SQL skills. 
 
-          Must have experience with Oracle 10G
 
-          Ideal Candidate will have experience with Data Guard, Golden Gate or Oracle Streams.
 
-          The ideal candidate should be an excellent problem solver with solid oral and written communication skills. They must possess leadership potential and outstanding interpersonal skills.
 
Education Requirements:
 
-          BS/BA in Information Systems or Computer Science / Engineering, and/or equivalent training and working experience.
 
-          Certifications in Database technologies are a plus.
