Summary: Maintains and administers existing school databases. Substantially improves employee productivity and quality of work across the School by integrating software systems within and between departments. Leads efforts to find and implement new software systems that provide further, continuous improvements in staff productivity, as well as improved services for parents and students. Provides user support for all database systems.
Principal responsibilities:
- Support all campus databases including applications support and training for users.
- Lead installations, upgrades, data conversions, and major projects for all campus databases.
- Analyze work flow in each department and identify opportunities to substantially improve employee productivity by (1) integrating existing database systems, (2) replacing existing systems with superior products, and/or (3) implementing new systems to automate existing tasks.
- Stay current with new database software offerings. Recommend and implement upgrades or replacements to existing systems as opportunities to further improve work flow and services emerge.
- When outside services are needed to implement new systems, prepare requests for proposals from IT vendors, manage a competitive bid process, and oversee the work from the chosen vendor to ensure the School receives the best price and service for the work needed.
- Extract data from school databases to create custom reports.
- Provide technical support for system managers and administrative staff.
- Document database systems, queries, and reports.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Experience with MS SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Blackbaud and PCR Educator preferred.
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Access and Excel.
- Experience integrating Blackbaud databases a plus.
- Working knowledge of, and experience in, business process reengineering.
- Experience in competitive procurement of IT services, as well as management of vendors providing services.
- Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks.
- Experience in independent schools a plus.
