Deputy Director of Development, Athletics

About the Job

This position reports jointly to the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education and the Executive Vice President for University Development and Alumni Relations. The Deputy Director of Development for Athletics is responsible for staffing all components of the current fundraising campaign as it relates to Columbia’s Athletic Program. This includes implementing the priorities for development activities, following cultivation and solicitation strategies, and maintaining a personal portfolio of donor prospects at the major gifts level. The incumbent works closely with the Director of Athletics and the Executive Vice President and implements and coordinates priorities for development activities for University Athletics; manages some prospects and solicitation teams; oversees progress in ensuring that Athletics fundraising goals are being met in concert with the overall University Campaign; develops and maintains relationships with donors and prospective donors with contributions or potential contributions of $100,000 or more.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 to 7 years’ related experience required. Familiarity with and strong interest in working with University Athletics essential. Related experience with a demonstrated record of high performance required. Demonstrated experience working with senior institutional leaders and ability to clearly communicate the mission of Columbia University necessary.
