Design Engineer - Embedded

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Develop and maintain software for EFJohnson’s Subscriber and Encryption Products group. Follow the Product Life Cycle process, adhering to schedules, designs, and deliverables. Actively communicate and coordinate with other engineering teams, providing constructive inputs and timely feedback.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Develop and maintain EFJohnson’s subscriber radio product lines in an embedded environment.

· Learn and implement P25 Trunking, Smartnet/Smartzone, and Multinet communication protocols in accordance to standards.

· Provides technical support on subscriber products to solve design and field issues.

· Establishes and maintains good inter/intra departmental communications.

· Responds to special assignments/projects as directed by management, with an attitude and willingness conducive to getting the job done.

· Exhibits desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgment, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity to provide for a cohesive, productive unit dedicated to the achievement of corporate goals.

KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

· One to five years applicable experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Excellent C or C++ skills are required.

· Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player

· Must be a self-starter with excellent problem solving skills

· Intermediate level of knowledge of development tools, test equipment, and documentation procedures

· Embedded software development experience a plus

· Knowledge of land mobile radio or other communications standards a plus
