To support and collaborate with the Design and Product Development teams to create Accessories and Footwear concepts suited to the creative vision within the established price point while adhering to the seasonal development calendar.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct trend research through web, market shopping, magazine tears, and consumer insights.


• Work with Design Manager to develop concept, style, color, fabric, and pattern direction for the Women's Footwear & Accessories categories.


• Develop and track necessary print and graphic artwork both internally and with outside studio support.


• Develop flat mechanical sketches and color renderings to support internal presentations and communicate design concepts to outside vendors.


• Assemble presentation boards for each season as well as create and maintain line sheets.


• Assist in the development of product packages including specifications, sample guidelines, flat sketches, and construction and fabric details to be sent to vendors for costing.


• Follow through on all initial sample requests with suppliers.


• Support Product Development with sample corrections to vendors through photos, sketches, verbal, and written communication as necessary.


• Evaluate and approve lab dips and strike off submits using reference standards.


• Asses and confirm all Photo Samples with Product Development for correct photography spec, color, and fabric before handing over to Commercial Marketing.


• Use returns reports and survey data to organize and perform quarterly style reviews to determine design and quality resolutions and identify opportunities for line expansion.


• Track and organize sample library.

• Bachelor's degree in design with a specialization in accessories preferred.


• 5-7 years experience in Footwear preferred but will consider Handbag experience.


• The focus is on Women's fashion accessories for the moderate market with an aspirational brand image.


• Strong sketching ability.


• Knowledge of construction standards, fabrics, technical drawings, and the production process.


• Skilled communication of technical information to Manufacturers, Product Development, and Sourcing.


• Skilled at evaluating color and using color vocabulary to communicate with manufacturers.


• Ability to organize and manage scheduled activities to meet product deadlines.


• A talented team player who can work proactively to trouble shoot and problem solve.


• Passionate about product and the customer experience.


• Proficient with Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.


• Knowledge of Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
