The Designer 3 is responsible for assisting with training and overseeing the daily activities of the Design staff as well as for designing and revising engineering drawings associated with custom engineered systems for various water purification products or water/wastewater distribution system maps.
Assumes responsibility for insuring the efficient and effective operation of the Design department by:
a. Ensuring that prescribed schedules and operating policies and procedures are followed.
b. Making recommendations regarding improved operating systems and procedures.
c. Allocating work and providing technical direction, assistance, and training to other personnel.
- Works closely with engineering through discussions, written instruction, or preliminary drawings to develop design concepts and prepare drawings.
- Using CAD system to prepare and revise drawing layouts, equipment arrangements, assemblies, subassemblies, and any required details of associated equipment
- Collaborates with engineering to prepare and revise flow diagrams, electrical detail drawings, plot plans, piping details, structural fabrication details, bills of materials, and drawing lists
- Revises "as-built" drawings based on the actual equipment manufactured in the plant or installed in the field
- Assists on limited design analysis and calculations collaborating with engineers
- Designs skid structure to support equipment and piping in an economical and efficient manner
- Checks drawings for detail, layout and for conformance to drafting standards and practices.
- May create databases for clients containing GIS information or prepare maps for client reporting
- Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
Other duties may be assigned
Associate's degree or technical school certification and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience,
- Proficient in 3D AutoCAD
- 2-4 years experience using Inventor
- Proficient use of computers with Windows based applications
- Experience in the water/wastewater industry preferred
