Intellisource is recruiting for a PC Support Technician with experience supporting all major components of an enterprise IT desktop and laptop computing infrastructure that provides services to both office based and mobile users. Desktop/laptop computers, LAN connectivity, VPN, telecommunications (phones, voicemail), Blackberry, and printer support are included in the PC Support Technician’s range of duties. Involvement in WAN, Microsoft Exchange and telephony support may also be required. This challenging and fast-paced position will sometimes require off-hours support and domestic travel. Successful candidate will be creative and be able to work both independently and as a member of a team. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to handle difficult and sensitive situations are key customer service skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provides first line of support for corporate desktop/laptop computer infrastructure
- Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and upgrades desktop/laptop hardware and software.
- Troubleshoots and maintains Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- Assists the Help Desk in the evaluation, prioritization, management and resolution of desktop/laptop, printer and connectivity issues.
- Assists the Telecommunications Coordinator with cell phone, Blackberry and phone card administration.
- Installation and connectivity support for approved handheld devices – e.g. Blackberry
- Management of user rights and security settings at desktop/laptop computer level.
Education:
- College degree in Computer Science or Information Technology – Desired
- CompTIA A+ or MCP certifications - Desired
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in an enterprise supporting a LAN/WAN/VPN/Wireless infrastructure environment that has both office based and traveling end-users
- Hands-on experience with the following:
- Hardware support of Intel based desktop and laptop computers
- Hardware support of LAN based printers and local printers
- Desktop/Laptop imaging solutions
- Remote access tools such as RDP or PCAnywhere
- Active directory management tools such as Microsoft’s Group Policy Management Console (GPMC)
- Support of Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office
- Support of VPN connectivity technologies for traveling/remote users
- Implementation, administration and support of backup technologies for hardware and software Implementation and support of anti-virus solutions Familiarity with LAN/WAN components and protocols: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, switches, routers and wireless connectivity
· Familiarity with Microsoft SQL server and IIS – Desired
· Familiarity with cable/DSL broadband connectivity
· Experience with Blackberry support for traveling/remote users - Desired
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Superior communication skills
