Desktop Support Engineer

About the Job

The Society of Chest Pains Centers (SCPC) s a non-profit, international society dedicated to the belief that heart disease can be eliminated as the number one cause of death worldwide.  In order to spread best practices and processes in heart care, the Society promotes protocol-based medicine and the adoption of process improvement science by healthcare providers.


 


To support its rapid and on-going growth, SCPC desires to hire a full-time Desktop Support Engineer.


 


 


Major Responsibilities


1.      Deliver IT software capabilities to support business operations.  This includes enhancing existing web site and other strategic software applications and creating customizations to MS CRM Dynamics and MS SharePoint sites.


2.      Provide “Help Desk” IT support to SCPC staff for all of their IT needs.  This includes IT training; generating reports; supporting laptops, desktops and software applications


3.      Provide IT support for the SCPC back-office IT infrastructure.  This includes support for IT network, security, server maintenance installing software patches and backups


4.      Applies understanding of computer software and hardware to diagnose problems, determine appropriate course of action, provide complete follow-through to successful resolution or escalate supervisor..


5.      Responsible for maintaining, configuring, and upgrading computer systems.  Performs minor computer repairs and coordinates vendor support for more critical repairs.


6.      Responsible for maintaining and updating hardware and software inventories on desktop and server equipment.  


7.      Required to carry a cell phone and be on call for emergencies.


8.      Occasionally required to perform job duties outside of normal business hours.


9.      Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and all internal departments to deliver a high level of service.


10.  Physical movement of computer related equipment.


11.  Meets or exceeds departmental metrics as established over time.


 


Required Qualifications



  1. College degree in Computer Science or similar discipline

  2. Minimum 3 years experience in software development and/or network engineering

  3. Minimum 2 years experience in one or more of the following: MS SharePouint, DotNetNuke, MS CRM Dynamics 4.0, C#, JAVA Scripting and other web technologies, SQL, SQL Server Reporting services, MS SharePoint

  4. Proficient in MS Office and tools

  5. Experience in providing technical support for PC's and local area network preferred.  Two + years working in a Windows networking environment.

  6. PC hardware knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot hardware issues and experience interfacing with vendor support organizations.

  7. Experience in a Windows XP/2003 Server/2008 Server/Vista environment.

  8. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to non-technical users at all organizational levels.

  9. Ability to discuss and diagnose problems with computer hardware/software with remote users.

  10. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

  11. Organizational and multi-tasking skills.

  12. Very good interpersonal, writing, presentation skills. Ability to communicate with most levels of management and across functional lines

  13. Self-starter and results oriented who can work in a rapidly changing environment, tolerate ambiguity, and demonstrate problem-solving skills with limited oversight

  14. Non-smoker

  15. Pass a criminal background check and drug screen

  16. Must represent the Society in a professional manner and with integrity

  17. Other duties as deemed necessary to support and enhance the functions of this role.

 


Desired Qualifications


1.      Firm understanding and experience with general TCP/IP connectivity issues in a LAN/WAN/VPN/Internet environment.


2.      Some experience managing multiple and concurrent mission critical IT projects
