The Desktop Support Specialist II will provide desktop technology support for a large Research and Clinical Medical Center.  Ideal position for a detail oriented, customer service focused individual with superior trouble shooting skills who is able to communicate effectively with a sophisticated and diverse user base.


 


 


 Responsibilities Include:



  • Installs and configures new computer systems, printers and connections to network.

  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots hardware, software, and connectivity issues.

  • Configure network access for remote locations and portable systems.

  • Installs and configures peripheral components.

  • Assists researchers and clinicians with interfacing laboratory instrumentation to computing equipment.

  • Coordinates with Center staff, as well as hardware and software manufacturers to automate data collection processes.

  • Provides training in basic computer skills to new users when needed.

  • Documents and updates work orders in call tracking system to ensure all orders are completed efficiently and accurately.

  • Monitors and responds to telephone calls, walk-ins and email requests for assistance and complex open calls.

Qualifications Include:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years full time Helpdesk experience required.

  • 3-5 years Macintosh experience.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems in a 100+ user Active Directory environment required.

  • Must be familiar with TCP/IP protocol.

  • Must possess expertise with MS Office 2000 or MS Office 2003 Professional products.

  • MCDSR Certification preferred.

  • Apple Certified Professional 10.5.
