TerpSys is currently seeking enthusiastic, motivated professionals to join our rapidly expanding team that supports the National Cancer Institute (NCI).  Our Desktop Support Technicians provide customized and specialized support to meet and exceed customer expectations to help them achieve their mission which is to reduce risk, incidence, and deaths from cancer as well as enhance the quality of life for cancer survivors. NCI conducts and supports integrated programs of the highest quality genetic, epidemiologic, behavioral, social, applied, and surveillance cancer research that is second to none. We are inspired to be a part of ground breaking research and technology that will someday eradicate cancer.

Responsibilities


As a Desktop Support Technician for TerpSys, you provide technical assistance to a 6000+ user WAN via face-to-face and telephone contact on both PC and Macintosh systems within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).  You perform as a technical specialist and diagnostician responsible for troubleshooting, problem solving, and maintaining corporate and government systems.  Desktop Support Technicians are responsible for all aspects of systems configuration, performance, and operation.
  
Minimum Qualifications


  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Windows 2000 Professional and/or Windows XP Professional, Mac OS 9 and/or Mac OS X

  • Experience supporting client configuration, administration, and network access in Microsoft NT or Novell server environments (experience with both is a plus)

  • Demonstrated experience with the installation, configuration, and use of a wide range of COTS desktop and network software, and COTS desktop hardware

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Experience / Qualifications / Certifications 


  • 2+ years of full-time technical experience that includes maintenance, repair, upgrades, enhancements, and configuration of hardware, software and operating systems in an inter-networked environment (PC and/or Macintosh)

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proven experience in high-demand/high-volume situations 

  • Ability to deliver results and to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and other responsibilities

  • Effective strategic thinking, problem solving, and collaboration methods and skills

  • Ability to perform complex technical analysis and work effectively in a team environment
