Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides freshly prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life challenging illnesses. Our team of fifty employees and thousands of volunteers deliver meals and hope to the doors of people living in the District of Columbia and fourteen counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a Development Coordinator to provide administrative assistance to our busy Development Department and to spearhead development activities directed at the faith-based community. The Development Coordinator will provide support to diverse development initiatives, including major gifts, public funding, corporate/foundation funding, direct mail, and special events. Such support may consist of sending acknowledgement letters to donors, answering basic questions about donations, assisting with donor solicitations, assisting with event logistics, and coordinating volunteer support for the Development Department. Additionally, the Development Coordinator will manage Food & Friends’ outreach to donors in the faith-based community. This is an outstanding opportunity for a junior development professional to obtain a broad foundation in nonprofit development and fundraising.
The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year of work experience in a nonprofit setting. Other requirements include a superior sense of organization, outstanding communication skills, the ability and willingness to give public presentations, excellent time management skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Must be willing to work some evenings and holidays. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.
The Development Coordinator will join a team of highly talented and dedicated professionals. Food & Friends provides a competitive salary and generous benefits. Our staff enjoys a high quality, diverse work environment that includes short Fridays, regular staff luncheons, and casual dress. Food & Friends is Metro accessible.
