Project Development Engineer


My client, a world class precision metal component fabricator and medical component manufacturer is seeking an energetic New Project Development Engineer to join their growing company.


 


Duties:


Manage the APQP process for new programs.
Trains production personnel and works with Process Engineering to transfer new programs to production.
Interacts with customers and other technical personnel to assist with the development and design of the product and processes to improve functionality and manufacturability.
Identify and select equipment and technologies to be used for new products and processes.
Develops preventative maintenance plans.
Conducts FMEA, DOE, SPC analysis and uses other quality tools to fulfill customer requirements and manufacturing initiatives.
GD & T. Interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
Provides technical guidance and direction for manufacturing.
Participates in research and development activities in terms of process implementation and validation of processes / products, process improvement and metrics.
Provides input for new product equipment selection, installation and maintenance.
Writes detailed `work instruction-level documents for manufacturing operations and related areas. Summarily trains personnel in these instructions and other technical process controls.
Conducts engineering studies and analyzes data.
Maps work flow(s) and develops process control plans.
Directs the validation activities for new tools, processes and equipment.
Develops and submits validation packages for customer approval of new parts, design modifications and / or process changes.
Develops and evaluates inspection methods and measurement capabilities.
Evaluates process stability and capability.


 


 


 


Skills/Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in engineering with Three years' related experience in manufacturing environment (metal stamping or medical device experience preferred).


Other Skills:
Good communication skills, team player, ability to multi-task, knowledge and the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge of AutoCAD Design software; Microsoft Office and Minitab Statistical Software.


Preferred Skills and Experience - Blueprint reading including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA, GR&R, etc), Design of Experiments (DOE), Experience in metal stamping or other high volume manufacturing field.
