Agency Description: Y-US, Inc. is a Hartford-based nonprofit located in the Parkville neighborhood. The agency also operates a site in northern Bloomfield. Y-US, Inc. operates afterschool and limited weekend programs for children who have experienced abuse or trauma in their young lives. Y‑US works closely with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Children served by the agency are up to eighteen years of age and are located throughout the DCF north-central part of the state, with a majority in Hartford. Position Available: Part-Time Development Associate / Grant Writer to research, inquire, apply and report on government, foundation and corporate grants; to market and help manage new Children's Sponsorship Program initiative, to create print and email newsletters to contacts, to assist Executive Director and Board of Directors with other development activities as needed. Salary and Benefits: Competitive hourly wages. Retirement plan. Two weeks vacation, five personal days, ten holidays per year. Hours: 25 hours weekly, variable schedule, including some evenings. Education / Experience Needed: High School Diploma, Bachelors degree preferred in communications/marketing. Experience preferred but may consider training the right candidate. Other Requirements: -Bilingual/bicultural preferred -A desire to work on behalf of foster/adoptive children -A valid Connecticut Driver's License with clean driving record -Must pass a criminal and DCF protective services background check -Pre-employment drug test required
