Expedia, the largest Online Travel Agency (OLTA), is looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and self-directed Development Manager in the Enterprise Data Warehouse team. The Data Warehouse systems and applications provide business-critical transactional and financial information to internal customers (business owners/planners, executives, Finance, etc.) as well as to external suppliers and partners.

In this role, you will be working closely with developers, program managers, and test group on creating new functionality and enhance existing functionality in the data warehouse.

We need a passionate Development Manager with very high technical and managerial skills who can help us build high performance, highly available and scalable Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Responsibilities:

·         Manage a team of 6 to 10 developers to develop and implement Informatica ETL, DB2 Sprocs, and Business Objects Universes/Reports.

·         Effectively manage a mix of onshore and offshore resources.

·         Work closely with developers to produce a scalable, efficient, robust, high quality Implementation in Infromatica, DB2, and Business Objects.

·         Work closely with Architects, Developers, Program Management, Test and Operations to implement project technical requirements.

·         Manage projects: providing estimates, managing schedules, and managing resource allocation and capacity.

·         Provide timely and appropriate communication to business owners, stakeholders, and users on issue status and resolution.

·         Proactively create and maintain system, support, and process documentation; work closely with Development teams (PM, Dev, Test), Operations, and Business Owners to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·         Participate in the promotion of best practices within the organization in collaboration with other development managers.

Qualifications:

·         A minimum of 5 years experience in leading small or large development team combined with a minimum of 7 years experience as senior developer.

·         Experience in industry standard ETL tools, DBMS, and Reporting Systems is required.

·         Experience in at least two of the following is required: Informatica, SQL Server, DB2, and Business Objects.

·         Strong background in Data Warehousing environment.

·         Qualified individuals will have a solid background in SQL Server/DB2 query and data investigation fundamentals.

·         Ability to read and interpret data schemas, with emphasis on SQL Server/DB2 implementations.

·         Proven ability to create and maintain online and printed documentation.

·         Proven ability to work cross functionally to deliver appropriate resolution of technical, procedural, and operational issues.

·         Strong customer service skills.

·         Must be able to drive investigations to completion and ensure customer satisfaction.

·         Must be flexible and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Work Experience and Education Guidelines:

·         MS/BS degree in a computer science field or related discipline.

·         Experience with data warehouse technologies and/or back-end reporting systems are required.

·         Experience in leading team(s) is required.

·         Experience in large data warehouse implementations is a plus.
